Nationally, the 3rd and 7th most frequently cited deficiencies are for care planning. How care plans are written contribute to over half of all deficiencies. The new regulations and survey process relate to how nurses and physician communicate, particularly related to medication prescribing, antipsychotics and antibiotic stewardship.

This four hour workshop, led by national experts from American Health Care Association (AHCA), David Gifford, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President, Quality & Regulatory Affairs, and Holly Harmon, RN, MBA, LNHA, Associate Vice President, Quality & Clinical Affairs, will focus on lessons learned from reviewing deficiencies related to care plans and on strategies to improve nurse-physician communication that can improve medication prescribing and avoid adverse events.

This workshop is designed for administrators, directors of nursing, charge nurses, medical directors, unit directors, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and similar positions. The first two hours will focus on RN-MD communication and after a short break,  the second two hours will focus on care plan development. The workshop will frequently use clinical case based exercises.
